Henri Cartier-Bresson

(Chanteloup-en-Brie, 1908 – Montjustin, 2004)

”The Mind’s Eye”

“The Mind’s Eye” is a collection of some of Henri Cartier-Bresson’s most representative photographs spanning from the early 1930’s to the 1970’s, including reports made across the entire world with a selection of portraits and landscapes, recurring topics for the photographer.

This collection presents a journey through the photographic career of Henri Cartier-Bresson, whom many consider the greatest photographer of the 20th century. A pioneer in photojournalism and the co-founder of the Magnum Photos agency, Henri Cartier-Bresson was the artist who captured some of the most emblematic images in the history of photography. His influence has been decisive for many photographers and he continues to be a point of reference today.

“To take photographs is to hold one’s breath when all faculties converge in the face of fleeing reality. It is at that moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy. It is putting one’s head, one’s eye, and one’s heart on the same axis. It’s a way of living.”
