The Biennal de Fotografia Xavier Miserachs is celebrating its fourth edition in 2006. Since the beginning, we have wanted this event to help make photography more accessible in our region, in both its artistic and documentary facets, so that the images can speak to us of other events and cultures while also documenting our own memory and identity.
In this year’s Biennal, we are featuring nineteen photographers from vastly different generations. In each of the ten exhibitions, their work reflects their own particular view of the past and present, with a unique and personal language, but one that is always defined by the documentary and humanist field of photography, an aspect which the Biennal started last edition and which it aims to consolidate in the future.
Furthermore, seeking to encourage people to collect photographs and to acquire signature works by important artists, this year we will raffle off a photograph by Xavier Miserachs that has been donated by Arena and Mar Miserachs which will remain on display during the Biennal.
