The Biennal de Fotografia Xavier Miserachs reaches its eighth edition with a lot of vigour and is quite determined to continue as a point of reference in disseminating documentary and social photography. It is a display of high quality, meticulous, diverse and real-life works.
We would like to take advantage of this new edition to recall two great photographers who unfortunately abandoned us in 2013: Oriol Maspons and Paco Elvira. The first one: pioneering, radical and provocative; the second: exemplary representative of what a photojournalist should be like: upstanding and engaged. Both were fervent collaborators of the Biennal and they clearly exemplify two of the main objectives of our work: the well-deserved recognition of the work of the great photographers that brought about the change of the paradigm of photography in our country in the 50s/60s as well as the promotion of the contemporary authors who have managed to capture and reflect the diverse realities of the world we live in in an honest way.
We would also like to express our gratitude towards all the organizations, sponsors and collaborators who support us as well as towards all the photographers that via their work expand our vision and knowledge, and who, as a result, help us to become more critical and at the same time more free.
