Sergio Larrain, el instante eterno (Sergio Larrain, the eternal moment), by Sebastián Moreno, 2021. A portrait that delves into the life and professional career of the great Chilean photographer and reconstructs the complex personality of the first Latin American photographer to be part of the Magnum agency and who abandoned his career when he was at his peak.

Atín Aya. Retrato del silencio (Atín Aya. Portrait of Silence), by Hugo Cabezas and Alejandro Toro, 2024. An introduction to one of the photographers who best knew how to capture the soul of the people he portrayed and whom the Biennal showcased during its 10th edition.

The Grapes of Wrath, by John Ford, 1940. A cinematic classic inspired by the book of the same name by John Steinbeck depicting the consequences of the Great Depression in the United States, which the author magnificently depicted in words and Dorothea Lange captured in unique images.

Fotografia [en] coberta ([Under] Cover Photography). Talks with publishers and designers about the use of photography in the world of literature beyond the initial objective for which it has been created.

La nissaga Casanovas. Cent anys anant a cal retratista (The Casanovas Lineage. One Hundred Years as Portrait Artists). A discussion about the archive of the Casanovas family of photographers led by Enric Bruguera: a massive photo archive and treasure trove that covers one hundred years of history about the people of Palafrugell.

Presentation of the project La Fiesta Brava on the documentary photographer Ariadna Creus. A work made with courage and conviction focusing on the abuse that many animals suffer in various Spanish festivities which seeks to raise awareness and promote reflection on how traditions that run contrary to the most basic standards of animal welfare have survived well into the 21st century.

La relevancia de la fotografía doméstica: Salvem les Fotos UPV / Recuperar las memorias. (The Importance of Domestic Photography: Save the Photos of the UPV / Recover the Memories). Presentation of the project that aims to recover the photo archives affected by the storm DANA in the Community of Valencia led by Pedro Vicente Mullor, the director of the Master’s Degree in Artistic and Technical Photography at the Valencia Polytechnic Institute. This important initiative strives to preserve photography as memory and testimony.

Dorothea Lange: la fotografia documental i la retòrica visual com a forma d’acció política (Dorothea Lange: documentary photography and visual rhetoric as a form of political action), led by Xavier Antic, a philosopher and professor of Aesthetics and Theory of Art at the University of Girona, author of numerous publications and a collaborator on cultural programmes for a variety of media outlets.

Treballadors de la mar (Seafarers). The photographer Carlos Palacio and the fisherman Xavier Miró will speak about the current challenges fishermen face and the problems that threaten one of the oldest professions in the world with roots that run deep in our region.

Un forat en la imatge (A hole in the image), talk by Nerea Arrojería about the thousands of negatives from the 1930s that were systematically drilled in the United States to make them useless. An unusual case linked to the Farm Security Administration, where figures like Dorothea Lange and Walker Evans worked. What questions do these wounded images raise today in relation to photography, archives and publishing practices?
